Facebook is seeking to fill the role of Accounting Manager - Fintech to join it’s EMEA Finance team. This full-time position is located in Luxembourg, reporting to the International Controller - Fintech.

You will be expected to have a strong business acumen coupled with a technical accounting background and strong communication skills to effectively facilitate information flow across multiple teams. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end-to-end.

In this position you will be given the opportunity to problem solve, drive process improvements and exercise good business judgment while performing your function. You'll advocate best practices and pitch in where needed, advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, review, analyze, and interpret financial reports. A team player at heart, you collaborate and work closely with a variety of cross-functional teams including technical accounting, SEC, statutory reporting, treasury, legal, corporate secretariat, tax, enterprise engineering and the rest of the controllership teams.

Success in this role involves an ability to think critically, provide value through jurisdictional expertise and knowledge of the regulatory environment of the countries in which we operate and an aptitude for automating and improving processes. You need to recognize how to strike a balance on getting the details right while still moving fast enough to support the rapid business growth. The successful candidate must be a highly driven, high energy, focused individual that can work well with internal and external partners at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership and accountability for accuracy, timeliness, effectiveness and efficiency of financial reporting and processes related to controllership for our EMEA entities (e.g. month-end and quarter-end close, P&L and B/S analysis, etc.), accounting (IFRS and US GAAP), support tax operations, support tax compliance, internal controls and risk management

  • Collaborate with statutory accounting teams, tax and other finance functions to support the preparation and review of accounting positions, policies, and financial statements

  • Define and implement scalable financial processes related to month-end and quarter-end close to provide highly reliable financial reporting for SEC and regulatory compliance reporting

  • Manage outsource third party service providers and make sure that company processes are in line with internal controls and global processes

  • Lead projects to identify, design, test and roll-out new financial reporting systems/tools/processes and set up new legal entities to support the growth in the broader business

  • Partner with cross functional teams to drive process improvements and automation as we scale

  • Identity and drive process improvement and automation. Independently plan, lead and execute on projects and areas of focus collaborating effectively with other regions and cross-functional teams globally

Minimum Qualifications

  • Recognized accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)

  • 12+ years relevant industry PQE with large, fast-growing, multi-national company

  • Minimum 3+ years with a large audit firm

  • Experience and solid knowledge of accounting principles, including US GAAP, IFRS and local GAAP

  • Excellent team player who is very comfortable working as part of a larger team located in different locations

  • Excellent planning, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Organized and thorough with desire for continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Financial services industry experience such as banking, fintech or payments

  • Collaborative working style and ability to work with cross-functional and international teams, ability to surface and resolve conflicts diplomatically

  • Excellent planning, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Risk management skills, business process orientation and strong analytical skills

  • Experience in high-growth companies
