We think it’s important you understand how Novi uses and stores your personal and financial data. If you have more questions, you can visit the Novi Help Center here or in the app, or chat with Customer Care 24/7 through the app.
Like many other financial apps, we verify new customers’ identities through government-issued IDs. This helps us ensure every customer signing up for Novi is who they say they are. We encrypt documents you upload, like your government-issued ID.
Novi uses two-factor authentication to help prevent anyone else from accessing your account from a device we don’t recognize.
While you don’t need a Facebook account to use Novi, if you have one, we’ll use it to help keep you and others safe. This helps us verify the identity of our customers, prevent fraud and criminal activity, and comply with laws.
This happens automatically — it helps make sure everyone signing up for Novi is who they say they are.
While Novi advertises on Facebook and Instagram like other companies, your financial information can’t be used by Facebook for its own advertising purposes.
We use Facebook’s payments service and work with payment service providers to help connect your debit card to your Novi account.
When you add money to your Novi account using your debit card or transfer funds to your bank account, Novi uses Facebook’s payments service to complete the transaction.
Facebook doesn’t receive your debit card or bank account details during this process.
When choosing who to send to, you can manually enter their phone number or sync your mobile phone contacts to Novi. Your contacts are securely stored, and you can stop syncing anytime in your device settings.
Notes sent with a transaction are visible to the sender and receiver, not to other Novi customers. In order to help detect and prevent fraud and criminal activity and comply with laws, the Novi team may review transaction notes. Transaction notes can’t be accessed by Facebook for its own advertising purposes.
Your transaction history is securely stored. We may review this history to prevent fraud and abuse and comply with laws.
Your Novi activity and transactions are not shared on your Facebook profile.
In some countries, Novi works with cash-out agents, so you can easily pick up cash at their participating locations.
With cash-out agents, we share the information required to help you get cash, including your legal name, date of birth, address, phone number, and withdraw code. In some cases, for compliance purposes, we may ask for and share additional details.
To see withdrawal locations near you, you can turn on location services or search manually. When you turn on location services, we collect information about your location by using GPS, nearby Wi-Fi access points, beacons, and cell towers.
Novi only stores an estimate of your current location.
You can turn off location sharing at any time through your device settings.
To do things like monitor transactions for fraud and to help keep your account secure from unauthorized access, Novi automatically collects your IP address, which can provide information about the general location where you’re using Novi. Changing your preferences in the location settings on your device will not disable the collection of your IP address for such purposes.
